Prompting Techniques

Prompt Guide

💡Aloi is designed to work solely with your internal data - it doesn't browse or pull information from public sources.

Prompting Overview

When we write questions to Aloi in the chat pane, we are effectively prompting.  Prompting consists of four components:

Query: This is a question or a query from the lawyer; the purpose of the query is to get some insight into a particular clause, to suggest text for a new clause, or to re-write an existing clause.

Context: The context includes the selected clause, which may be a pre-defined clause in the template or previous agreement, or an “empty” clause, as well as any source material you may have uploaded when created the draft.

Response: The response is the actual answer you receive from Aloi.

Citations: The unique offering with Aloi is that all the responses are grounded in the lawfirm's own data. Therefore all the responses come with citations to actual internal documents within your firm.

General tips

In order to obtain the maximum value from Aloi, we have some general tips and suggestions when writing prompts:

  • Use explicit instructions or questions - use words such as “suggest…”, “provide…”, “explain…”, “draft…”, “what is…”
  • Avoid pleasantries - it is unnecessary to use words such as “please…”, “can you…”, “thank you…”
  • Feel free to provide additional context or qualifiers in your query, e.g. “What is the current market practice threshold amount? By practice we mean all private equity bonds issued in the last 6 months.
